Without the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS), there can be no political stability in Serbia, and a strong result for the party guarantees “peace, stability and security for citizens,” it was stated at the central pre-election rally of the “Ivica Dačić – Factor of Stability” coalition at Belgrade Arena.
SPS President Ivica Dačić described the Students’ List as “the greatest obstacle to the factor of stability,” adding that he is younger than 73 candidates on that list.
In his address, Dačić said that when the presidential elections are called, if he becomes a candidate for president of Serbia, he will “defeat everyone.”
“That is why these are not just parliamentary elections. Anyone who wants me to be a presidential candidate should vote for us in the parliamentary elections as well, for list number two,” he added.
In a statement, the SPS said that Dačić had gathered 20,000 people at Belgrade Arena and that he had also promised changes to the Labour Law.
“The police are here to protect us from chaos. I am on the side of the police not 100 percent, but 1,000 percent. I want to thank them for protecting the country from chaos. We need to recruit another 7,000 police officers next year. An attack on police officers is an attack on the country. No one must attack you,” Dačić said.
Coalition partners also addressed the crowd: Dalibor Marković, president of United Serbia, and Jug Radivojević, president of the Social Democratic Party of Serbia. Ivan Karić, president of the Greens of Serbia, was unable to attend the rally due to health problems.
Messages of support were also delivered by Petar Đokić, president of the Socialist Party of Republika Srpska; Darko Banjac, president of the Serbian People’s Party; Slobodan Dimitrijević, founder of the Serbian-Russian Friendship Society; and Marko Milošević, grandson of Slobodan Milošević.
