Serbian kayaking has a new European senior champion, as the young Strahinja Dragosavljević crossed the finish line fastest in the K1-500 discipline this morning!

To make the success even more grandiose, although this sport has brought us joy many times throughout history, the continental ruler is only 18 years old and is a fresh face in the adult competition.

He finished the race in 34.138 seconds. The silver medal went to Portugal’s Messias Baptista (34.174 s), while Spain’s Carlos Arevalo won the bronze (34.554 s).

It sounds unbelievable, but it’s a truth to make the whole country proud: this was only his third appearance at the highest level. And he has already managed to demonstrate his immense talent, thanks to which he was the junior European champion in 2022 and 2024. Also, he recently triumphed at the World Cup in Szeged.

Today he was probably additionally inspired by the result of his compatriot Milica Novaković, as our experienced kayaker won her second bronze medal at the competition in Račice, Czech Republic, shortly before him.

Serbian national kayaker, Milica Novaković, is excelling at this year’s European Championship in Račice. So much so that she won a bronze medal on the second day of the weekend at the biggest continental competition in the Czech Republic.

She was third this morning at the end of the K1 500 race, having paddled the course in 1:49.939.
The gold medal was won by Zsóka Csikós from Hungary (1:47.902), while the silver went to Poland’s Anna Puławska (1:48.636).

The day before, Novaković also took a medal of the same shine in the K1 200-meter discipline, as an overture to another extraordinary result in the successful career of our multiple Olympian and winner of many other medals at major competitions.
