SHAMEFUL DECISION OF THE COURT IN SPLIT: Thirteen HOS members acquitted for the Ustasha salute “for home ready”!

The Municipal Court in Split acquitted thirteen members of the HOS of guilt for shouting the Ustasha salute “for home ready” in Knin on the anniversary of Operation Storm in 2022, Jutarnji list writes.

The explanation states that this was an exception that occurred during the paying of respects to the “defenders,” as confirmed last night by the first defendant, Marko Skejo.

“Taking into account all the circumstances of the event, this court considers that the event in connection with which these misdemeanor proceedings are being conducted is an event that falls under the exceptions,” the explanation of the court’s decision states.

The court believes that by shouting the Ustasha salute, the defendants did not disturb public peace and order, but rather, they state, it is “about an appropriate place of piety related to the ceremony of paying respect to the defenders who died in the Homeland War fighting under that greeting.”

The shameful acquittal reminder notes that on August 5, 2022, in Knin at Ante Starčević Square, “during the celebration of Victory and Homeland Thanksgiving Day and Croatian Defenders Day, the third defendant Miće Ćuk stepped out in front of the lined-up HOS members and, after a short speech, loudly shouted ‘for home’ three times, after which twelve defendants also loudly responded ‘ready’ three times.”

It is indisputable, the court interprets, that the greeting “for home ready” was used as an official Ustasha greeting in the totalitarian Independent State of Croatia, which emerged from fascism and was founded on racism.

“That greeting, whether in its original form ‘for home and the poglavnik ready’ or in its shortened versions ‘for home ready’ or ‘for home’, represents a totalitarian symbol contrary to the Constitution of the Republic of Croatia and the foundations on which the Republic of Croatia rests as a democratic and sovereign state,” the court states.

However, it is added in the court’s explanation of the acquittal, “that greeting was also used during the Homeland War,” namely “as an integral part of the official coat of arms of the HOS …

“Members of the HOS, as Croatian defenders, participated in, defended, and preserved the Republic of Croatia in defense of the independence and territorial integrity, i.e., sovereignty of the Republic of Croatia, from the armed aggression carried out against it by Serbia, Montenegro, and the Yugoslav People’s Army, with the armed rebellion of part of the Serb population in the Republic of Croatia during the Homeland War,” stands in the explanation of the Municipal Misdemeanor Court in Split, as reported by the Zagreb-based Jutarnji list.
