In Prizren, the jubilee 10th Holy Archangels summer school of calligraphy and history is beginning, which will once again gather children aged 12 to 16 from Kosovo and Metohija, central Serbia, the region, and the diaspora.
The school is organized in cooperation with the Association of Friends of the Holy Archangels Monastery and the Art Center in Prizren, and is realized under the patronage of the Royal Foundation of Prince-Inheritor Filip and Princess Danica.
On the occasion of the beginning of the school, Prince-Inheritor Filip said that this program has a special significance for the preservation of cultural and historical heritage.
“Prizren is also our city. We are happy to be able to support a project that revives Serbian culture and education in Prizren among the youth. Gathering young people, especially children, their mutual acquaintance and connection, as well as connecting with Prizren and its rich legacy, is of essential importance for the preservation of the cultural identity of the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija,” stated Prince-Inheritor Filip.
As the organizers point out, the goal of the school is for children to gain knowledge about Serbian calligraphy, medieval history, culture, art, and spirituality through a five-day program, as well as to visit Serbian shrines and cultural-historical sights of Prizren and its surroundings.
In addition to educational workshops, the program includes socializing through play, song, and sports activities, and the intention is for participants to develop a closer relationship towards Serbian cultural heritage, the preservation of the Serbian language, literature, and art, as well as to make friendships that will permanently connect them with Kosovo and Metohija.
On the third day of the school, a tour of Prizren and its most significant Serbian shrines and cultural monuments is planned, while on the last day, a final ceremony will be organized where participants will present their calligraphic works, perform a musical and recitation program, and participate in the selection of the most successful calligrapher.
All participants will receive diplomas and appropriate prizes, and participation in the Holy Archangels summer school is completely free of charge.
