While thousands of peers around the world dream of great successes, sixteen-year-old Nikola Savić from Banja Luka is already living them, and in a way that leaves no room for indifference.
In competition with tens of thousands of the best young minds on the planet, this teenager, who currently lives in Cyprus, stood on the winning podium three times in the heart of Rome and sent a message to the world that knowledge still has the power to win.
Sixteen-year-old Nikola Savić achieved exceptional international success by winning three gold medals at the Grand Finale of the International STEM Olympiad, held from July 2 to 8 in Rome.
At one of the largest international STEM competitions, which this year gathered more than 1,150 finalists and guests from 54 countries, while more than 38,000 students from over 1,700 schools and 153 countries participated in the qualification part, Nikola excelled and won three gold medals.
His success attracted the attention of the organizers and the academic community.
During his stay in Rome, he gave an interview to representatives of the STEM Olympiad organization, as well as the Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome, and his result will be presented in international media.
Special symbolism is given to this success by the fact that Nikola celebrated his 16th birthday on the very first day of the competition, which was followed by a week of exams, international challenges, and the closing ceremony where he stood on the winning podium three times.
With this result, Nikola further confirmed his status as one of the most successful young STEM competitors. In his career so far, he has won more than 30 gold medals at international science and technology competitions, continuing a series of successes on the world stage.
“Rome is a city where history has been written for thousands of years. Having the opportunity to participate there and return with three gold medals is an honor I will remember for the rest of my life. This is not the end, but motivation for even bigger goals,” Nikola told Srpskainfo after the end of the competition.
The International STEM Olympiad is among the most massive and demanding international competitions in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The selection system is multi-stage and extremely rigorous—out of tens of thousands of students, only the best make their way through the qualifications, and the finalists are practically the elite of young talents from all over the world.
In that context, the fact that Nikola Savić not only reached the finals but won three gold medals places him at the very top of the global STEM scene for his age.
Additional weight is also given by continuity; more than 30 gold medals in international competitions show that this is not a single “flash,” but long-term work, discipline, and talent that is confirmed year after year.
Such results are often a stepping stone for further education at prestigious world universities, but also a clear signal of how much potential exists in young people from these areas, often without adequate systemic support.
