SERIAL KILLER RAMPAGES ACROSS SOUTH AFRICA: Bodies of nine women found, horrific case sparks mass protests!

In less than two months, the bodies of nine women have been found in the Ekurhuleni area, east of Johannesburg in South Africa.

Police are investigating whether some of the cases are connected, while South African media are increasingly speculating about a possible serial killer. Police have so far neither confirmed nor denied those reports.

The latest victim was found on Thursday in Dawn Park. She was a woman believed to have been around 30 years old. Her body was found in an open area beside a road, while local media reported that she was partially clothed and had suffered a fatal neck injury, the Financial Times reports.

Police seek links between the cases

Police have formed a multidisciplinary team to investigate the deaths of the nine women.

Acting Gauteng Police Commissioner Fred Kekana said investigators had found possible links between some of the cases, but that additional forensic and investigative findings were needed before any conclusions could be reached.

One man has already been arrested in connection with one of the murders. Police are checking whether he could also be linked to other cases, while another person is under investigation.

Five of the nine victims have yet to be identified.

Fear among residents

Among the identified victims is 38-year-old Dineo Motapane, whose body was found beside a road in KwaThema. Her family identified her after she was reported missing to police.

The string of deaths has caused fear among Ekurhuleni residents, as well as protests over violence against women.
