RAJAKOVIĆ ON JOKIĆ: “He Is One of the Best in History, and We Don’t Recognize It or Do Enough to Promote Him”

Basketball coach Darko Rajaković, who has been coaching Toronto for years, emphasized that he has absolutely no doubt about who the best Serbian basketball player of all time is. Appearing on Aleksandar Stojanović’s “Alesto” podcast, Rajaković said without hesitation that, for him, it is the “Joker.”

“Saša Đorđević, Vlade Divac, Dejan Bodiroga and Predrag Stojaković are among the best players we have ever had, but Nikola Jokić is the best of all of them. He is the best we have ever had, but we don’t recognize it enough,” Rajaković said.

So why the debate? Rajaković also has an interesting explanation for that: “Jokić did not play for either Crvena zvezda or Partizan, nor for Barcelona or Real Madrid, where we could have him right in front of our eyes. He is somewhere far away, and you have to get up at three in the morning to watch his games,” the Raptors coach explained.

Rajaković also emphasized that Jokić is one of the “best in the history of the sport,” adding that he is intelligent, ambitious and loves basketball, even more than horses. He particularly praised his growing contribution to the Serbia national team, for which he is the captain.

“He loves this country very much and loves playing for the national team, and now he is finally the captain. He approaches his national team duties with a great deal of passion,” Rajaković said, adding: “We really are living in the era of our best player ever, and all of us have to do a much better job of promoting him as our greatest ambassador in basketball.”

As a reminder, Jokić is a three-time NBA MVP and has so far won one championship ring with the Nuggets.
