As a reminder, members of the Criminal Police Directorate (UKP) entered the Provincial Secretariat for Social Policy, Demography and Gender Equality yesterday to conduct an inspection. The institution is headed by Predrag Vuletić, a close associate of Aleksandar Vulin. However, Vuletić did not show up for work, and his absence came after the UKP launched an inspection at the institution he has headed since 2016.
The police operation followed media reports about suspected financial abuses within the Secretariat, with the total amount involved estimated at as much as 60 million euros.
He has reportedly been under considerable pressure for some time and fears possible arrest. Further anxiety was caused by developments involving his close associate Aleksandar Vulin, whose flight to Moscow was turned back to Belgrade due to security procedure irregularities during boarding, media reports say.
