Serbian karate national team member Aleksandar Vučković won the silver medal at the European Championship, which was held in Frankfurt.
On his way to the EC finals, Vučković defeated the representative of Cyprus with a score of 3:2, then the competitor from Azerbaijan with 4:3, then the national team member of Montenegro Balša Vojinović with 3:1, only to defeat the Russian fighter Akhmed Akhmedov in the semifinals with a score of 2:1.
In the EC finals, Vučković was defeated by the Greek national team member Xenos Christos-Stefanos.
Vice President of the Karate Federation of Serbia, Dr. Strahinja Stojković, pointed out that this success is a huge boost for Serbian karate.
“Aleksandar demonstrated top quality, mental strength, and a championship character. The title of European vice-champion is an exceptional result and confirmation that Serbia has fighters of the highest level. This is a great pride for our sport and country,” stated Stojković.
The head coach of the Serbian national team, Predrag Stojadinov, emphasized that the success is completely deserved.
“Aleksandar was focused, confident, and tactically flawless throughout the entire championship. His victories over top opponents clearly show how much he is worth. The silver medal at the EC is a huge success and a strong confirmation of his work, talent, and dedication,” emphasized Stojadinov.
