The best tennis player of all time, Novak Đoković, overcame the second round of Roland Garros as well, where he once again faced a Frenchman, Valentin Royer, whom he defeated with a lost set, just like against Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in the first round.
Novak celebrated with 6:3, 6:2, 6:7, 6:3 after three hours and 43 minutes of a truly hellish battle and advanced to the third round, where the winner of the duel Dino Prižmić – João Fonseca awaits him.
Đoković had three rivals in this match, the tricky Valentin Royer, the crowd, which cheered for its tennis player and distracted Novak at some crucial moments, although Đoković also had huge support on Chatrier.
However, the toughest “rival” was the conditions in which the match was played, it was 33 degrees in Paris, and they played under the strongest sun, so strong that the parts of Chatrier that were under the hit of the sun were almost completely empty, unlike the packed parts of the stands that were in the shade of the roof.

Novak was completely focused from the start. He quickly made a break, took a 4:2 lead and after that routinely finished the first set and took the lead.
Đoković was even more convincing in the second set, where he broke his rival’s serve twice and reached a quick 2:0 lead.
Then both tennis players had to go to the locker rooms to change due to the great heat and truly hellish conditions without a shred of air humidity.
Novak made a break again in the middle of the set, but then Valentin Royer managed to come back and tie it at 3:3. After that, Novak made a break again, but Royer managed to take Đoković’s serve once more and complicate the match.
The Frenchman then managed to win his game and put Novak under pressure. Novak served to stay in the set with the Frenchman leading 5:4, and 30:0 for the rival, but as many times in his career, he was at his best in crucial moments and won the game.

At that moment, someone in the crowd also annoyed Novak because they distracted him during his serve, which the Serbian tennis player protested against, but he kept his cool and avoided losing the set at that moment.
Then the tennis players reached a tie-break, and there Đoković made a mini-break already in the first point and gained an advantage.
However, Royer managed to win one mini-break back. Novak took the lead again, but Royer was successful once more, and then he also saved a match point. Nole saved a set point for his rival, but then lost his serve and allowed his rival a set point on his own serve, which Royer utilized and extended the match.
Although he unnecessarily entered the fourth set, Đoković maintained his composure and made a break in the fourth set, after which he kept the advantage and reached victory and a placement in the third round.
