Hereditary Prince Filip and Princess Danica attended the Holy Liturgy in the Church of Saint Sava in Stockholm, where they participated in the prayer gathering together with numerous believers of the Serbian community in Sweden.
Their Royal Highnesses were welcomed by Archpriest Dusan Rakovic and the clergy of the Serbian Orthodox Church, and the liturgy was also attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the Kingdom of Sweden, Jelena Cukic Matic.
After the service, Hereditary Prince Filip emphasized the importance of preserving the spiritual and national identity of the Serbian people in the diaspora.
“We had the blessing to attend the Holy Liturgy in the Church of Saint Sava in Stockholm, together with numerous believers who, through their faith, dedication, and unity, preserve the spiritual and national identity of our people in Sweden. Wherever they live, our people remain connected by the same faith, tradition, and sense of belonging,” said Hereditary Prince Filip.
Prince Filip and Princess Danica are currently staying in the Kingdom of Sweden as guests of the Swedish Royal Family, on the occasion of marking the golden jubilee of Their Majesties King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia. Their ties with the Swedish court are additionally strengthened by close family relationships, given that Crown Princess Victoria is the godmother of Their Royal Highnesses.
Speaking about the visit to the church and the meeting with the Serbian community, the Hereditary Prince emphasized that this very event had a special place during their visit to Sweden.
“The meeting with our compatriots made this liturgical gathering especially joyful and precious. That is exactly why this meeting with the Serbian Orthodox Church and our people in Sweden had a special significance for us,” said the Hereditary Prince.
In the end, Hereditary Prince Filip sent a prayer for the Serbian people throughout the world.
“May the Lord protect our people and grant them harmony, peace, and prosperity,” said Hereditary Prince Filip Karadjordjevic.
