Students in blockade have announced the plan for a protest to be held on Friday, August 14, in Valjevo under the name “Valjevo Remembers,” citing what they claim was the excessive use of force by police during protests in the city last year.
They announced that three booths – one representing Valjevo, one for the Student in Every Village organization, and one for the IT in Blockade group – will be set up at City Square starting at 5 p.m.
The gathering will begin at 7 p.m. in front of Valjevo Gymnasium, with the march scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. The route will lead from Valjevo Gymnasium, past the police building, to the stage set up at the intersection on Uzun Mirkova Street, according to information published on the blokade.org website.
According to the organizers, a stage will be set up where the planned program will begin at 8 p.m. and last until 9 p.m., after which the march will continue.
“From the stage, we will proceed along Bishop Nikolaj Street to Eurocenter, then continue along Sinđelićeva Street to Karađorđeva Street. There we will spread out along the city’s main street and, between the intersections with Vlade Danilovića Street and Hajduk Veljkova Street, mark the locations where the beatings of August 14 took place,” the students said, adding that the gathering will conclude at City Square.
