The head coach of the men’s national basketball team of Serbia, Dušan Alimpijević, has determined the roster of 18 candidates for the June-July FIBA qualification window for the World Cup, and the team will be led by Denver center Nikola Jokić, the KSS announced.

Serbia is expected to play two matches to end the first phase of qualifications for the World Cup, namely on July 2 against Switzerland away and four days later against Bosnia and Herzegovina in Belgrade.

The roster includes: Vasilije Micić (Hapoel), Aleksa Avramović (Dubai), Stefan Miljenović (Crvena zvezda), Jovan Novak (King Szczecin), Arijan Lakić (Partizan), Filip Barna (FMP), Ognjen Dobrić (Crvena zvezda), Nikola Đurišić (Crvena zvezda), Nemanja Dangubić (Dubai), Dejan Davidovac (Crvena zvezda), Stefan Momirov (Spartak), Tristan Vukčević (Washington), Nikola Tanasković (Budućnost), Nikola Jović (Miami), Strahinja Gavrilović (Igokea), Nikola Jokić (Denver), Dušan Ristić (Kawasaki Brave Thunders), and Uroš Plavšić (Bordeaux).

In the coaching staff, along with head coach Alimpijević, will be Vladimir Jovanović, Ognjen Stojaković, Milenko Bogićević, and Tomislav Tomović. Strength and conditioning coaches are Marko Sekulić, Marko Stanojević, and Stefan Radojičić.

The medical team consists of Prof. Dr. Dragan Radovanović, Prof. Dr. Nebojša Mitrović, and Dr. Boris Vukomanović, as well as physiotherapists Veljko Nikolić, Milorad Ćirić, and Predrag Jovičić. The team manager is Nebojša Ilić, the kit manager is Jovica Aničić, and the PR manager is Nina Kolundžija.

The national team of Serbia will gather on June 22 at the start of preparations. On June 27 in Belgrade, Serbian basketball players will play a preparatory match against the Czech Republic, which will be closed to the public.

Serbia is expected to play two matches to end the first phase of qualifications for the 2027 World Cup. On July 2, Serbian basketball players will visit the national team of Switzerland in Fribourg, and four days later they will host the national team of BiH in Belgrade.

The first place in the standings of Group C of the first phase of qualifications for the 2027 World Cup is held by Turkey with eight points, while Serbia and BiH have six each. Switzerland is last with four points.

The three best-placed national teams from each group will qualify for the second phase of qualifications for the 2027 World Cup.
