There are currently 40 active wildfires in Serbia. The wind is making firefighting efforts more difficult in the Deliblato Sands, where low vegetation and grass are burning. Forecast rain could make the firefighters’ job easier toward the end of the day.

The fire in the Deliblato Sands has affected more than 3,000 hectares, mostly low vegetation and grass. More than 300 firefighters and rescuers, members of the Fire and Rescue Units Directorate, volunteer firefighters, employees of “Vojvodinašume” and “Srbijavode,” the Serbian Armed Forces, and the Serbian-Russian Humanitarian Center have been engaged in fighting it.

The fire at Lake Bovansko in the municipality of Aleksinac, where around 60 hectares of mostly grass and low vegetation within the forest were burning, has been contained.
