One of the highlights of this year’s Vidovdan celebration and the 81st Serbian Day in Niagara Falls was the visit of Their Royal Highnesses Hereditary Prince Filip Karađorđević, Princess Danica Karađorđević, and their family, whose presence added special significance to the oldest and largest Serbian cultural event in Canada.
The Royal Family joined the faithful for the Divine Liturgy at the Serbian Orthodox Church of St. George the Great Martyr before attending the ceremonial cultural and artistic program. During the event, Hereditary Prince Filip addressed those gathered, speaking about the importance of preserving Serbia’s spiritual, cultural, and national heritage, as well as the need to strengthen unity among Serbs around the world.

The event’s principal hosts, Protopresbyter Father Stanko Antić and Dr. Bojan Ratković, President of the Church-School Congregation, welcomed the Royal Family, distinguished guests, and the thousands of visitors who gathered on the church grounds to mark Vidovdan. They emphasized that the presence of the Royal Family was a great honor for both the parish and the entire Serbian community in Canada.
A particularly memorable moment came when Niagara Falls Mayor Jim Diodati delivered a welcoming address, officially greeting His Royal Highness on the occasion of his first visit to Canada. During the ceremony, the mayor presented Hereditary Prince Filip with a framed black-and-white artistic photograph of Niagara Falls as a lasting memento of his first visit to one of the world’s most famous natural wonders.
The visit of Their Royal Highnesses on Vidovdan, one of Serbia’s most significant national and religious holidays, marks an important step toward strengthening unity and deepening ties between the Serbian diaspora and the Royal House of Karađorđević.
