In Chicago, Hereditary Prince Philip and Princess Danica Karađorđević stayed past week, and in their honor, several events of a humanitarian nature were held, at which the Serbian Camp was promoted, a joint project of the Royal Foundation and the diaspora portal Serbian Times attracted great attention from our diaspora, which filled the hall to the last seat.
At these gatherings, several generations of immigrants gathered, and among them were descendants of officers of the Yugoslav Royal Army who once long ago took an oath to the grandfather and great-grandfather of Prince Philip.
They all came to greet the young hopes of the Serbian royal dynasty, who with their words and deeds in the last few years show that the monarchy is not just a concept from history textbooks, but a potential that promises it can also become the Serbian future.
And that was somewhere also the general conclusion of the Serbs whom we could see and talk to at these events: Serbia should return to its tradition! Serbia should be a monarchy again!
Until that happens, the Karađorđevićs showed in Chicago that they have the manners of European nobility, but also that they very much feel their own people, both those in the homeland and those in the diaspora.
-When a person comes to Chicago and sees this community, our churches, organizations, families, and so many young people gathered around their heritage, one cannot help but feel pride. Not only because of what Serbs have created here, but because of the love for their origin that lasts even thousands of kilometers away from the homeland. That is why tonight, on behalf of my family, I want to say a sincere thank you. Thank you for preserving our faith, our tradition, and our language. Thank you for teaching your children who they are and where they come from, Prince Philip told the attendees at the Royal Dinner…
And we will share with you a video report from this event, which was held in the ceremonial hall of the Church of St. Nicholas in Lyons, a suburb of Chicago.
