The singer of Serbian ethno and spiritual music, Danica Crnogorčević, released a new single dedicated to the holy shrines, entitled “The Holy Shrines are Calling Us,” which reminds of the importance of our faith and tradition.
In record time, this track lifted to their feet and gladdened Serbs around the world, from the Balkans all the way to the distant diaspora, conveying a powerful emotion that leaves no one indifferent.
And here is what its author, priest Ivan Crnogorčević, parish priest of the Church of St. Demetrius in Podgorica and husband of Danica Crnogorčević, says about the creation of the song:
-I wrote this song past year during our family trip to Ohrid. It carries a message of returning to one’s roots, holy shrines, and Kosovo as a spiritual covenant of the Serbian people. Through the motifs of Kosovo peonies, Vidovdan, Holy Prince Lazar, and Kosovo heroes, the song calls for the preservation of faith, history, and identity, he says and adds:
-This song is not just a memory of the past, but also a call to gather again around our holy shrines, to light a candle, bow to our ancestors, and preserve the covenant they left us.
