The Serbian duo of Nikolaj Pimenov and Martin Mačković are the new European champions after producing a phenomenal performance in the final to win the gold medal and once again confirm that they belong among the very best in the world.
The Serbian pair led the race from the first to the final stroke, never surrendering the lead for a single moment. They claimed victory in a time of 6:04.45, finishing ahead of the Spanish crew (Pombo and Romero, 6:06.22), while third place and the bronze medal went to Croatia’s famous Sinković brothers with a time of 6:08.35.
This gold medal represents the crowning achievement of the season for Pimenov and Mačković. After winning silver at last year’s World Championships in Shanghai, and following their move from Partizan to Danubius 1885 of Novi Sad, they claimed third and second place at the World Cups in Seville and Lucerne under the guidance of renowned coach Nikola Stojić, before capturing the brightest medal of all in Italy!

The successful day for Serbian rowing was further completed by the country’s top female rower, Jovana Arsić. The reigning European champion from Szeged delivered a flawless semifinal performance in the women’s single sculls to secure her place in the grand final.
Jovana led the race from start to finish and won with a time of 7:21.78, finishing ahead of Switzerland’s Aurelia Janzen (7:22.40) and Ukraine’s Kateryna Dudchenko (7:22.48).
