Former Red Star Belgrade basketball player Uroš Plavšić was arrested yesterday on the orders of the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade following his wedding to influencer Jovana Tomić.
According to the allegations, during the night between July 16 and 17, he jumped over the fence of the Military Medical Academy (VMA) and physically assaulted a member of the military security staff.
The attack occurred at Entrance No. 2, but the security officer managed to subdue him and call the military police.
According to Kurir, citing anonymous sources, Plavšić is suspected of having been intoxicated and under the influence of narcotics.
Military police officers handed Plavšić over to a patrol of Serbia’s Ministry of the Interior (MUP). The VMA security officer sustained minor injuries to his head and arm during the altercation with the suspect.
Plavšić has been placed in custody for up to 48 hours on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of assaulting military personnel in the performance of military duty.
Who Is Uroš Plavšić?
Just a few days ago, Serbia international and former Red Star Belgrade player Uroš Plavšić married Serbian influencer Jovana Tomić.
This summer, Plavšić returned to Red Star after a loan spell at Beşiktaş before signing for Romanian club CFR Cluj. Two days ago, he officially put pen to paper with the ABA League member.
Plavšić joined Red Star in the summer of 2024 after winning the Olympic bronze medal with the Serbian national team in Paris.
Wearing the Red Star jersey, Plavšić made 22 appearances, including 10 in the EuroLeague, averaging 5.2 points and 2.7 rebounds per game.
During the second half of the 2024/25 season, Plavšić was loaned to Beşiktaş of Istanbul. He played 38 games in all competitions for the Turkish club, including six in the EuroCup, where he averaged 8.3 points and 4.3 rebounds.
After returning to Red Star the following summer, the Serbian center made another 18 appearances for the Belgrade club before being loaned at the end of February to Bordo Sportif, a team competing in Turkey’s second division.
In 11 games for Bordo Sportif, Plavšić averaged 11.7 points and 9.2 rebounds.
