Sad news marked this Saturday morning… Former basketball national team member Dragan Labović passed away at the age of 39, the Basketball Federation of Serbia announced.
The funeral will be held on Monday, May 12, 2025, at 12:00 PM at the city cemetery in Prokuplje.
It will be remembered that he was a member of the cadet national team with which he won a gold medal at the European Championship in 2003, and two years later, gold at the junior European Championship in Belgrade, where he was named the most valuable player.
With the youth national team in 2006, he won gold at the European Championship in Izmir, and the following year, in 2007, he again won gold at the European Championship in Gorizia with the same age category. He played for the senior national team of Serbia at the European Championship in Spain in 2007.

Dragan started playing basketball in 1996 in his hometown of Prokuplje at KK Topličanin, and in 1999 he moved to KK Zdravlje from Leskovac, where he spent three seasons. From Zdravlje, as a great talent, he moved to KK FMP, in whose system he developed into a top basketball player.
In the 2003-2004 season, he debuted for the “Panthers” first team, from where he was sent on loan to Borac Čačak, in whose jersey he was the MVP of the Sinalco League championship in the 2005-2006 season.
The following season he returned to FMP with whom he won the Radivoj Korać Cup in 2007 and was the MVP of the final tournament, and in the 2008-2009 season, he was the top scorer of the Adriatic League.
Labović then moved to Greek Aris in 2010, then German Frankfurt. The following season he moved to Yenisei Krasnoyarsk, and after a good season with Krasnaya Krylia from Samara, in June 2012, he signed a two-year contract with Nizhny Novgorod. In November 2013, he signed a contract with Polish Koszalin, then with Aliaga, and finished the same season with Lebanese Al Riyadi.
In July 2014, he moved to Romanian Asesoft Ploiești, with whom he also participated in the EuroCup. Labović started the next season with Istanbul BB, from where he went to Finnish Nokia, where he stayed until the end of the season. The following season he wore the jersey of the Macedonian club Karpoš Sokoli, to whom he brought the national Cup trophy, the first in the club’s history. He started the next season with Karpoš as well, only to return to Finnish Nokia in December, where he finished his playing career.
