“DAD, COME GET ME, I’M DYING”: Nemanja survived the massacre in Malo Orašje, and then after three years kicked the ball! (VIDEO)

Nemanja Ilić (23), the young man whom Uroš Blažić shot on that fatal May 4, 2023, was severely wounded that evening in the memorial park in the village of Malo Orašje, and now for the first time after three long years, he kicked the ball on the football field in this place where the “Živite” Memorial Tournament was held in honor of his murdered friends.

-Recovery is going quite well considering the nature of the injuries, I’m okay now. As for the injury, the leg is okay now, but considering that I lay in bed for about a year and a half, the knee remained stiff and frozen, so I cannot bend it – Nemanja says for Kurir and adds:

-I managed to stand on my feet independently after about 4 months.

When it comes to the fatal evening, Nemanja says he tries to think about it as little as possible.

-I often think about what I survived, but I want to reduce those thoughts to a minimum. I remember a lot from that evening and I am aware of what happened, but I try not to think too much about it…

Nemanja Ilić started the memorial match in Malo Orašje today. With his kick, symbolically, the match began. Otherwise, due to his injury, Nemanja did not play the match, but only symbolically opened it.

As a reminder, on the critical night, Nemanja called his father on the phone and said: “Dad, come get me, I’m dying.” His father testified at the prosecutor’s office, where he recounted how he found out about the shooting, as well as what happened that evening.

-My son went to the monument in the evening hours with his friends. Their intention was to gather and celebrate Saint George’s Day earlier, due to the upcoming days of mourning. I was at home when my son called me at 10:36 p.m. and said: “Dad, come get me, I’m dying” – Nemanja’s father said then.

As a reminder, on May 4, 2023, in the villages of Dubona and Malo Orašje, Uroš Blažić killed nine young people and wounded 12 of them. Nemanja Ilić is one of them. He managed to survive the shots of the crazed killer, but the consequences remained. The scars are not only on the body, but also on the soul.
