Marko Arnautovic inscribed his name in the history of world football in Austria’s match against Jordan at the World Cup, becoming the oldest player to ever appear for Austria at the World Cups.
At the moment he stepped onto the pitch, he was 37 years and 59 days old, thereby breaking the long-standing record of the legendary goalkeeper Michael Konsel, who had held the record since 1998 and the match against Italy.
Konsel was 36 years and 109 days old back then, but now Arnautovic went a step further and moved the boundary of Austrian football longevity on the biggest stage.

This fact gains additional weight when taking into account that Arnautovic is still a key part of the national team, despite his age, and that he still plays at a high level in the Austrian jersey.
The experienced striker thus once again confirmed his status as one of the most important players in the history of Austrian football – and wrote a new chapter of the World Cup.
As a reminder, Austria defeated Jordan with a score of 3:1, and Arnautovic also scored a goal in stoppage time, which is his first ever at the World Cup.
