In six Belgrade churches, on Sunday, July 12, a large voluntary blood donation action will be organized from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., jointly implemented by the Blood Transfusion Institute of Serbia and the Serbian Orthodox Church (SOC).
The action is at the locations: Voždovac – Church of Saint John Vladimir, Vračar – Temple of Saint Sava, Novi Beograd – Church of Saint Simeon the Myrrh-streaming, Palilula – Church of the Holy Apostle and Evangelist Mark, Stari grad – Church of Saint Alexander Nevsky, Čukarica – Church of the Ascension of the Lord, it was announced.
The organizers called upon all healthy citizens of legal age who are able to respond and help those who need blood the most with their gift. One given unit of blood can save multiple human lives.
The SPS stated that for many years it has represented one of the most reliable and dedicated associates of the Blood Transfusion Institute of Serbia in organizing voluntary blood donation actions.
Through numerous parishes and churches across the country, the Church constantly encourages believers to help those for whom blood is necessary for treatment and saving lives with an act of love and mercy, it was announced.
Also, a special example with his personal participation is given by the head of the SOC, Patriarch Porfirije, who is a long-time regular voluntary blood donor and has repeatedly called upon citizens to join these humane actions.
