Minister of Energy and Mining Dubravka Đedović Handanović stated after negotiations with representatives of the Hungarian MOL that they are not satisfied with the proposal they received today and that they are waiting for a new proposal, which they hope will arrive as soon as possible.

She stated that Serbia remains committed to negotiations with the MOL company and finding a compromise, but not at any cost.

“We are not satisfied with the proposal we received today, which concerns the red lines that we said we would not cross. Above all, the future operation of the Pančevo Refinery, the crude oil processing capacities and how to ensure that the levels we agree upon remain respected, that oil derivatives cover the Serbian market to a certain extent, but also the obligations undertaken by NIS in the past that are important for Serbia and how to enable them to either be realized or for the state to receive appropriate compensation. It remains for us to wait for a new proposal from the MOL company and for it to arrive in the shortest possible time,” said Đedović Handanović.

She added that Serbia’s interest is clear.

“To protect our citizens, our country, our economy, because NIS represents critical energy infrastructure. This is about a contract between future shareholders – on one side MOL, and on the other the Republic of Serbia, specifically the obligations that MOL must fulfill as someone who will manage critical energy infrastructure in Serbia,” stated Đedović Handanović.
