Novak Đoković has decided to skip the first clay-court tournament of the season and will not play at the Monte-Carlo Masters, organizers announced.
Đoković has opted not to participate in the Monte Carlo Masters, which officially marks the start of the clay season.
After previously withdrawing from the Miami Open, the greatest tennis player of all time has now also pulled out of the Masters event held in the Principality, as confirmed by the tournament organizers.
“Novak Đoković will not take part in the Masters. We send him our best wishes and hope to see him back on the court soon,” the Monte Carlo Masters organizers said.
It is worth recalling that Nole withdrew from the Miami tournament due to a hand injury. He has not made any public statements since, and was last seen on camera in Belgrade at a concert by Greek star Konstantinos Argiros in a well-known club.
It remains to be seen which clay tournaments Đoković will choose as preparation for Roland Garros, the second Grand Slam of the season.
Last year, he arrived in Paris as the Geneva champion and reached the semifinals.
