Serbian soprano Marija Jelić is the winner of the “Millennium Woman” award for 2025 in the field of culture, the artist confirmed to Tanjug.

This award is given to exceptional women who, through their work, knowledge, and dedication, contribute to the development of society, inspire others, and promote values in accordance with the United Nations Millennium Development Goals.

“Marija Jelić has distinguished herself with exceptional results in her field, as well as her continuous contribution to the community, where her example encourages new generations toward creation, humanity, and social responsibility. Her dedication and achievements have made her a role model and a symbol of the strength and persistence of the contemporary woman,” the rationale states.

She has performed in over 25 countries on world opera and concert stages and also founded the International Opera Foundation which helps young talents.

“It is a great honor for me to be the recipient of this prestigious award. This award made me very happy because my work is being recognized and gives me encouragement and motivation to continue creating. In a time of global challenges, I am very happy that true values and hard work are still recognized and respected. I thank the Millennium Woman association and President Dr. Marija Stevanović for such an honor,” Marija Jelić said, commenting on the valuable recognition.

In the previous period, Marija successfully performed in Livorno and San Gimignano in Italy with the orchestras of the Teatro Goldoni from Livorno and the Mediterraneo Orchestra at concerts dedicated to Beethoven.
