It didn’t last long. Novak Đoković has ended his collaboration with Andy Murray after only six months of working together. Although it was believed that the two of them would be a winning combination, that did not happen.

Đoković also commented on this on social media.

“Thank you, coach Andy, for all the effort, fun and support over the past six months on and off the court. I really enjoyed deepening our shared friendship,” Đoković stated.

The Serbian tennis player will play at the ATP tournament in Geneva from May 18th to 24th, and then will compete at Roland Garros, which is scheduled from May 25th to June 8th.

“Thank you to Novak for the incredible opportunity to work together and thank you to his team for the hard work over the past six months. I wish Novak all the best for the rest of the season,” Murray announced.

Who will be the new coach?

Based on what we saw in Belgrade in recent days, Đoković has decided on the same man as during 2024.

Instead of Murray, the role of the first coach will be performed by Boris Bošnjaković, the former head coach at the Novak Đoković academy and a long-time coach. He was added to the professional staff during Goran Ivanišević’s era, who vouched for him as an excellent expert and analyst and helped Đoković achieve great success. Now he wants to capitalize on that with the 25th Grand Slam title. Perhaps already in Paris? Or later at Wimbledon.

Novak added Bošnjaković just before Roland Garros last season as the head coach, and since then he has been in the team with various roles, although he has had a close collaboration with Novak for years.

Bošnjaković was a coach at Novak Đoković’s academy for years, and at one point he was also the head coach in charge of working with younger generations.

He became part of the professional staff as an analyst at the insistence of Goran Ivanišević, who believed it was better to entrust the job to him than to anyone else in the world. This made Novak’s preparation for matches even faster and easier.

“I haven’t confirmed since parting ways with Goran that I have a permanent coach, I said that Nenad is here temporarily to help me as a friend and mentor. Someone who is important in my life and whom I have known for many years. The team you saw here will be there, Boris Bošnjaković is coming, who is part of my, let’s call it, technical team, when it comes to the analysis of tennis matches and my game. He worked as the head coach at the Novak tennis center. We have been collaborating for a long time. He has arrived and will be with me in that role of tennis coach and someone who works with me on analysis of both opponents and tactical preparation. That is the plan for now. I don’t have a longer-term plan than that,” said the Serbian ace, who confirmed that he has not yet planned all the details.

Bošnjaković became a professional in 1997, but his best place on the ATP list was 740th. However, since then he has constantly improved and worked with big names from whom he absorbed knowledge.

“I have over 20 years of experience in the tennis industry, I had the privilege to learn and collaborate with the biggest names in this sport such as Roy Emerson, Nikola Pilić, Ricardo González, Novak Đoković, Marijan Vajda, Goran Ivanišević. They all taught me a lot. My ultimate goal is to be more than a coach, to be a mentor and a source of inspiration for others who love this game as much as I do,” explained Boris.

Boris has thus completed the team which already includes Miljan Amanović, physiotherapist, then Gebhard Phil-Gritsch who will again perform the role of fitness coach, and Steven Sassine Chachoyan, an Australian chiropractor who plays an important role in the recovery process.

Of course, Bošnjaković will now have a key role when it comes to tennis tactics.
