Newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he has appointed Brendan Carr as the head of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), describing him as a “warrior for free speech” who aims to “take back control from the tech giants.”
“Carr is a warrior for free speech,” Trump said late last night.
Carr stated that it is necessary to “expose the censorship cartel” imposed by tech giants such as Facebook, Google, Apple, and Microsoft.
He added that he wants to “restore the right of free speech for Americans.”
The appointment was supported by billionaire Elon Musk.

Brendan Carr has worked at the FCC since 2012, and in 2017, Trump appointed him as one of the commissioners during his first presidential term. Previously, he worked as an attorney specializing in regulatory issues.
“He will end the regulatory assault that has paralyzed American job creators and innovators, and he will ensure that the FCC meets the expectations of rural America,” Trump said.
