Podgorica – Serbian judoka Aleksandra Andrić has secured a bronze medal in the under-70 kg category at the European Judo Championships held in Podgorica.
Andrić claimed the medal after a victory over Portugal’s Tais Pina in the repechage match.
Her road to the podium included impressive wins against Ida Isaksen from Sweden, Aleksandra Samardžić of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Germany’s Miryam Butkereit. She was narrowly defeated in the quarterfinals by Marie-Eve Gahié of France.
Later today, Nemanja Majdov will also fight for bronze in the under-90 kg category, facing off against Ivaylo Ivanov of Bulgaria in the repechage.
In other results, Islam Shogenov was eliminated in the third round of the under-90 kg division, while Mihajlo Simin exited in the second round of the under-81 kg category.
In the same weight class as Andrić, Jovana Čakarević concluded her competition in the second round.
