The Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia announced that in the period from January to August 2025, there were 24,736 more deaths than births in Serbia.
In that period, a drop in live births of 1,544 or 3.9 percent was recorded, as well as a drop in deaths of 3,077 or 4.7 percent, compared to the same period in the previous year.
“In the Republic of Serbia, in the period January-August 2025, the number of live births was 37,923. Compared to the same period of the previous year, when the number of live births was 39,467, a drop of 1,544 or 3.9 percent is recorded.
The number of deaths in the period January-August 2025 was 62,659, and compared to the same period of the previous year, when the number of deaths was 65,736, a drop of 3,077 or 4.7 percent is recorded,” the statement said.
