Citizens, as well as domestic and international officials, have been arriving at the Potočari Memorial Center since early morning. They will attend today’s commemoration marking the 30th anniversary of the alleged genocide against Bosniaks in Srebrenica.
Among those who arrived in Potočari this morning are Chief Hague Prosecutor Serge Brammertz and Japan’s Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Tashihiro Aiki, along with numerous officials from the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
At 12:00 PM, officials will lay flowers at the memorial site to pay respects to the Srebrenica victims, followed by a religious ceremony. Today, seven identified victims from July 1995 will be buried at the Memorial Center.
In the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, today has been declared a Day of Mourning in remembrance of the Srebrenica genocide.
The commemorative gathering in Potočari is secured by the Police of Republika Srpska, with support from other security structures in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Zvornik Police Administration announced that all measures are being taken to ensure the event in Srebrenica proceeds peacefully, and for the safety of all participants, the use of drones is prohibited.

Vučić on the Anniversary
Aleksandar Vučić, the President of Serbia, has issued a statement regarding the anniversary of the crime in Srebrenica.
He reminded on the social network X that today marks 30 years since the horrific crime was committed in Srebrenica.
“We cannot change the past, but we must change the future. Once again, on behalf of the citizens of Serbia, I express my condolences to the families of the Bosniak victims, with the conviction that a similar crime will never happen again,” Vučić wrote.
It is worth noting that Vučić, speaking on Pink television last night, recalled the ten years since the attack on him in Potočari and stated that he went there to bow his head before the victims and that he is proud of it.
“Once again, I express my condolences to the families of the fallen Bosniaks. That relationship will never change. This is how we differ from others. For me, the hardest battle was a year and something ago at the UN. I am proud of that fight by the entire team,” stated the Serbian President, noting that he aged the most then, and that “even Lagumdžija and Konaković said it was incredible how Serbia fought.”
