SOC BROUGHT A DECISION: Money contributed to the Sash of the Most Holy Mother of God will be sent to Serbian families in Kosovo!

The Serbian Orthodox Church (SOC) announced today that all the money that citizens contribute during the veneration of the Holy Sash of the Most Holy Mother of God, which will be located in the Temple of Saint Sava in Belgrade until June 5, will be used to help Serbian families in Kosovo and Metohija and for other humanitarian purposes.

Archimandrite Ephraim, the abbot of the Holy Mountain monastery Vatopedi, from which the sash was brought to Belgrade ahead of the Ascension Day litany, announced the decision of the Vatopedi clergy that he left all the money at the “independent disposal” of the SOC Patriarch Porfirije.

“In this regard, His Holiness Patriarch Mr. Porfirije, in the spirit of paternal responsibility, informs the faithful people of this act of brotherly love towards the Serbian Patriarchate and publicly, expressing warm gratitude to Elder Ephraim and his brotherhood, likewise feels an obligation and announces that he has decided that the contributions be used to help Serbian families in Kosovo and Metohija and for other philanthropic purposes,” the statement reads.
