Vedran Božić from Beška lost his life on vacation when he drowned on Egremni beach on the famous Greek island.

Vedran Božić (46) from Beška drowned on Sunday at the popular Greek beach Egremni on Lefkada.

As reported by Greek media, the tragedy occurred on July 27 around 1:30 PM when the Serbian citizen drowned on an inaccessible beach.

“Due to a series of unfortunate circumstances, a tragedy occurred right before Vedran’s brother, with whom he was on the beach. The waves were extremely large those days, and there was, as they explained to me, a warning for swimmers not to enter the sea for safety. Vedran, unfortunately, entered, and as we heard, it was extremely difficult for rescuers to reach him,” a friend of the deceased Serbian man told Kurir and added:

“Everyone then tried to pull him out of the water, but unfortunately it took a very long time due to the inaccessible terrain. The waves were huge, so even boats couldn’t approach. The coast guard tried every way to reach the Serbian man, but strong winds defied that plan. In the end, rescuers, with the help of the fire department, pulled the Serbian man out and transported him to the hospital.”

Unfortunately, despite all the doctors’ efforts, the Serbian citizen could not be saved. The body has been sent for an autopsy, and after that, it will be transported to Serbia.
