Serbia’s women’s U22 volleyball team achieved a major success in The Hague by defeating Poland in the decisive group-stage match and securing a place in the European Championship semifinals with a 3-1 victory (19:25, 25:16, 25:19, 34:32).
The Serbian team lost the opening set but then significantly raised its level of play, turning the match around by winning the next two sets. The fourth set produced real drama, with Poland holding a six-point lead at one stage, but Serbia’s players refused to give up and, after a hard-fought battle, managed to close out the match in their favor.
Simona Mateska led the winning team with 19 points, while Milica Vidačić added 18. Anja Mihajlović scored 15 points, Lana Mijačić contributed 12, and Teodora Skočajić finished with 11.
As a reminder, Serbia won silver medals at the previous two European Championships in the U22 category and will now have the opportunity to compete for its third consecutive medal.
