Bratislav Simović from Dveri was today first verbally and then physically attacked by Slobodan Jakšić, a councillor from the Russian Party, which is part of the ruling coalition in Čačak.
The session of the Čačak Assembly lasted for four consecutive days, and the reason was the adoption of the budget for 2026, N1 reports.
The daily gathering of citizens in front of the building, dissatisfied due to increases in utility service prices, appears to have spilled over among the councillors as well.
As can be seen in the video that Simović posted on his Facebook page, he approached Jakšić with a phone in his hand, who was sitting at a councillor’s bench, and asked whether it was true that only he had been waited for more than an hour so that the Progressives would have a quorum for today’s session.
“Is it true that there was no quorum for more than an hour just because of you?” Simović asked.
“Get away with that phone. What are you pretending to be, some kind of tough guy?” Jakšić said.
Jakšić then asked Simović who he was to film him, and then stood up and moved toward him.
“Who are you to take pictures of me? Why are you filming me? Get away, you scoundrel,” the voice of this Russian Party councillor can be heard.
Simović said in a telephone conversation with N1 that his approach to Jakšić was a reaction to his address at the assembly.
According to N1, Jakšić went to the police immediately after this incident and reported Simović.
Statements are currently being taken at the premises of the Čačak Police Department.
