In the Belgrade neighborhood of Vozdovac, three hours after midnight, a dramatic attack on a fast food establishment occurred.
It is suspected that the attacker first threw a stone and broke the glass of the catering facility, and then a flammable substance.
A greater tragedy was avoided thanks to the incredible composure of one fellow citizen. Witnesses from the scene said that the fire was extinguished by a woman who works in a nearby facility.
“The breaking of glass was heard, and then a flame flared up. Fortunately, a woman from the neighboring shop immediately ran out with a fire extinguisher and put out the fire before the firefighters arrived. If it weren’t for her, the whole building would probably have burned down,” say shocked neighbors, reports Telegraf.rs.
“I saw a ‘Mercedes’ and people getting out of it. First they broke the glass, and then a Molotov cocktail was thrown. In a second, everything went up in flames! I didn’t think, I immediately grabbed the device and started extinguishing. If I hadn’t been there, who knows what would have happened to the whole building,” said the woman who extinguished the fire.
As a reminder, security cameras recorded a man getting out of a luxury car, breaking the shop window with a stone, and then throwing a Molotov cocktail through the hole. After the attack, he fled at lightning speed in an unknown direction.
The investigation into this incident was taken over by the Second Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office (OJT) in Belgrade. The police conducted an investigation, footage from all surrounding cameras was taken, and a search is underway for the vehicle and the driver whose identity is currently unknown.
