The Archive of Public Gatherings has announced that 16,500 people attended last night’s rally held by the “Aleksandar Vučić – United Serbia” electoral list.
In a post on its Facebook account, the Archive stated that its methodology involved calculating the area occupied by the gathering and estimating crowd density in different zones.
It added that the estimate was based on footage recorded at 6:23 p.m.
The Ministry of Interior announced last night that 110,000 people had attended the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) rally.
Last night, Novi Sad hosted the first SNS rally since the collapse of the railway station canopy on November 1, 2024, which claimed 16 lives.
United Serbia electoral list leader Aleksandar Vučić told his supporters that, following the canopy collapse, “some people from abroad were running the entire show,” attempting to exploit an event of this kind, known as a “black swan,” to attack Serbia.
“A lot of money came in from abroad, billions of euros to destroy Serbia. They resent us because we are freedom-loving and independent,” Vučić said in his address at the square. He and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico were the only speakers.
