Members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Belgrade, the Criminal Police Directorate, in cooperation with the First Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade, have arrested a citizen of North Macedonia, A. K. (1984), due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of fraud.
He is suspected of falsely presenting himself as a surgeon and, together with several currently unidentified persons, leading and maintaining a victim in the delusion that he would, for a monetary fee, urgently operate on a member of her family who had allegedly been in a traffic accident.
The police arrested him immediately after the handover of the money and found 16,650 euros and 150,000 dinars in his possession.
It is suspected that A. K. and the persons being sought, in the period from November last year until now, committed several frauds in the same manner on the territory of Belgrade, thereby illegally obtaining more than 100,000 euros.
The suspect has been detained for up to 48 hours, after which he will be brought before the competent prosecutor’s office along with a criminal complaint.
