Self-taught musician from Iran, Farja Faradji, has dedicated his career so far to an unusual goal – composing music of different historical eras and regions, using authentic instruments and musical systems that were in use then and there.

Faradji has mastered a whole range of instruments that he uses in his compositions, and perhaps the greatest number of songs is dedicated to the music of ancient Rome and Persia.

However, besides the music of great ancient empires, Farja has also dedicated himself to the music of other Balkan countries, including Serbia.

Faradji’s compositions based on Serbian musical motifs are mostly inspired by the great heroes of epic folk poems, such as Marko Kraljevic and Mali Radojica.

He also dedicated one song to a historical figure – the Serbian Princess Olivera Lazarevic, daughter of Prince Lazar and Princess Milica.

In the descriptions attached to the video, Faradji explains his musical compositions, which instruments he used, as well as who the characters the song speaks about were.

In this way, this incredible musician promotes to the world not only the Serbian musical tradition but also our history.
