Nearly 54% of Kamala Harris’ voters want to move to another country or state following Trump’s victory on Tuesday.
Over 50% of Vice President Kamala Harris’ voters say they want to relocate after Trump’s win in the 2024 presidential election, according to a survey commissioned by StorageUnits.com.
Storage Units surveyed 1,837 Harris voters on November 6 to determine how many of them want to move—and who actually plans to do so—as well as the main concerns of those who voted against Trump.
Of the respondents, 44% want to move but likely won’t, while 5% say they will definitely move, and another 5% say they probably will. Those who want to move but likely won’t cite personal finances, family, and community ties as the reasons they will stay in place.
Of the 10% of respondents who plan to move or are seriously considering it, 90% are looking to relocate to another country, with the most popular choices being Canada, the United Kingdom, and Mexico. California, New York, and Colorado were the top three choices among those considering moving to another state.
According to the survey, the top three reasons Harris’ voters want to move are concerns that a federal abortion ban will be enacted, increased racial inequality, and the potential rollback of progressive rights.

Access to abortion at the federal level, which was one of the key issues in the Democrats’ campaign, remains a concern for many voters, despite Trump’s statement that he would not introduce a federal abortion ban, reiterating his agreement that such issues should be left to states after the Supreme Court’s June 24, 2022, overturning of Roe v. Wade.
Other major concerns include: reduced access to healthcare, increased social inequality, lack of gun regulation, and the weakening of public education.
“Some Harris voters who feel fear, anxiety, and concern after the election results may decide to move from a red state to a blue state with friendlier LGBTQ+ laws and/or less restrictive abortion laws. However, a variety of factors affect any potential relocation, such as the cost of living, job availability, and housing prices,” said real estate agent Jo Ann Bauer to Storage Units.
Among all generations surveyed, Gen Z had the highest number of Harris voters who said they would definitely or probably move (nearly 20%), compared to millennials, Gen X, and baby boomers.
Gen Z also had the lowest number of participants who said they had “no interest in relocating,” at around 30%.
Trump decisively won the 2024 election, securing at least 301 electoral votes, compared to Harris’ 226 votes, and Trump defeated Harris by over 5 million votes in the popular vote.
