Former national team player Vladimir Štimac, who actively supports students in the blockade and citizens in the fight against the ruling regime, announced on the social network X that the Higher Court in Belgrade has lifted his measure banning him from attending public gatherings from November last year, and that the criminal complaint has been dismissed.

At the beginning of November last year, the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade launched an investigation against one of the most prominent civic activists, former basketball player and national team member Vladimir Štimac, charging him with calling for a violent change of the constitutional order.

At that time, Štimac was banned from attending all public gatherings.

However, the Higher Public Court in Belgrade has lifted the ban measure on Štimac and the criminal complaint has been dismissed, which he announced on the social network X.

“There are not even grounds for suspicion! Everything they tried to charge me with has fallen. Thank you to the honorable people in the judiciary who have a backbone and judge according to the law, not according to dictates. Thank you to my lawyers. We continue the fight for the truth and the accountability of all who participated in unlawful proceedings against me. And we will see each other on the street in the fight against this corrupt criminal regime!”, Štimac said, along with the attached ruling on the matter.

The post was also shared by the basketball player’s lawyer, Vladimir Terzić.

Otherwise, the news about the arrest of Vladimir Štimac spread on the night of November 2nd last year, a day after the anniversary of the collapse of the canopy at the Novi Sad railway station was marked in Novi Sad.

On that day, Dijana Hrka, the mother of Stefan Hrka (27), one of the 16 victims of the canopy, started a hunger strike in front of the fence of the so-called “Ćaciland” in front of the Parliament of Serbia.

Accompanying Hrka the entire time were numerous citizens, students, pupils, but also war veterans, and police cordons separated them from government supporters and criminal groups that filled the space in front of the Parliament throughout the entire day. With the first dusk, the provocations intensified, the first shots of pyrotechnic devices were heard, which flew from “Ćaciland” toward the tent of a desperate and grief-stricken mother, while everything was accompanied by inappropriately and morbidly loud music, with an almost perverse selection of turbo-folk songs.

Among the gathered people who came to support Hrka was also Vladimir Štimac, who, irritated by the non-stop abuse coming from “Ćaciland”, started shouting and calling on citizens to take to the streets.
