Students of Gornji Milanovac in the blockade announced the commemoration of the anniversary of the Second Serbian Uprising on April 23, with a march titled “Uprising March,” from the city center to Takovo and an exhibition of art works from a competition announced on the theme of the uprising.
They called on citizens to join them in the 11-kilometer march that will start at 3:00 PM from Prince Mihailo Square in the center of Gornji Milanovac and end at the memorial complex “Takovo Bush” in Takovo.
The march will take place under the slogans “Uprising March,” “Bush from the root, Serbia from Takovo” and “Here are the students, here you are.”
The students, who organized an art competition dedicated to the Second Serbian Uprising together with the seniors of the Milanovac High School “Takovo Uprising,” announced that they had to collect the art works in front of the Municipality building rather than at the High School where it was originally planned, “due to the pressure that representatives of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) exerted on the administration of that school.”
“We do not want to cause problems for the High School principal because she did not participate in the realization of this idea in any way, nor do we want to provide an argument in that way for this freakish government to replace her with its illiterate and immoral personnel,” stated the announcement from the students in the blockade and the seniors.
Seniors of the Milanovac High School were unable to hold a humanitarian basketball tournament on the school courts ten days ago, also “due to SNS pressure on the High School leadership,” which triggered a protest by citizens and students who supported them.
The exhibition of art works with photographs and drawings on the theme “My area – then and now” and written works on the themes “Here I am, here you are – direction Milanovac” and “Everyone loves a spring rebellion, and so do I,” will be held on April 23 in Takovo.
The competition was intended for all citizens of the Gornji Milanovac municipality from age three to 103.
