Kiana, a young American woman, found peace in Orthodoxy after wandering through different churches. Her story of a spiritual journey has inspired many.
Although she did not grow up in a religious family, the young American Kiana felt an emptiness that nothing could fill. After wandering through various churches, she found peace where tradition has not changed for centuries—under the domes of the Orthodox Church.
“I wanted something deeper”
Kiana’s story begins in 2020, when she first stepped into a church independently. Although her family was formally Catholic, they did not practice the faith. Her first encounter with Christianity was through Protestant communities, but her heart sought more.
-I think Protestantism is beautiful—they love Christ in a special way. However, after a year and a half, a desire for something deeper appeared in me – Kiana shared on the TikTok profile “faithwithkiana.”
The path then led her toward Catholicism. Although she appreciated the tradition and respect during the service, she still had the feeling that she “was not in the right place.”
Brother’s call changed everything
The turning point occurred thanks to her brother, who was simultaneously going through an identical spiritual search. One day he addressed her with words that would change her life: “You have to look at this. I think this is the truth.”
It was the Orthodox Church.
-So far, I have been to the Orthodox Church about six or seven times and I must say that the reverence you feel there is incomparable. You are not there just because you believe, but because you dedicate your whole life and soul to God – explains the young American woman.

Against the modernization of faith
Kiana emphasizes that for her, the key moment was the return to roots and holy sacraments, criticizing attempts to adapt faith to the modern age at any cost.
-Faith is the most important, but I think we have neglected many key traditions and sacraments and that they should not be modernized. Everything finally made sense to me – she says, adding that she is only at the beginning of learning, but that her decision is firm.
Her post triggered an avalanche of positive comments from believers in Serbia, Greece, Russia, and America itself.
“Welcome, sister,” “You found the right path,” “Glory to God,” are just some of the supportive comments sent to her after she publicly announced that she is becoming part of the Orthodox family.
