Islam Shogenov and Nemanja Majdov won bronze medals for Serbia in judo at the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam tournament.
It is interesting that the Serbian national team members won the medals in the same category up to 90 kilograms and they did it in an identical way.
Islam, a former Russian national team member, successively defeated American Jayne, Czech Kopecky, and Kazakh Anuarbekov, before being defeated in the fight for the semi-finals by the later champion, Georgian Lasha Bekauri.
He pulled Islam into the repechage, where he first defeated Abduljalilzoda from Tajikistan, and then in the match for the medal, Azerbaijani Fatiyev.
Majdov was better than Grigorian from the Emirates, Bozorov from Uzbekistan, and Fronkoviak from Brazil. He was defeated by the later finalist Latisev.
In the repechage, he defeated Greek Celidis, and after him, in the match for the medal, Korean Kim.
