A serious traffic accident occurred this morning in Laćarak on the road leading to Čalma, in which a collision between a passenger car and a van claimed the lives of a man and his 16-year-old daughter. The mother survived and was transported to the hospital.
The family from Inđija, according to preliminary reports, was on their way to a pig slaughter when the tragedy occurred.
Eyewitnesses who arrived immediately after the crash claim that the passenger car, while turning, collided with the van, which they said “blocked the road” in the curve toward Čalma, an area with reduced visibility.
Official confirmation of the cause is not yet available. Police and the public prosecutor are determining the exact sequence of events.
Two People Transported to Sremska Mitrovica General Hospital
A 35-year-old man sustained injuries to his chest and lower extremities, and a 37-year-old woman suffered shoulder injuries. Both are conscious and oriented, and complete diagnostics and monitoring of their condition are underway.
Authorities are collecting evidence and witness statements to determine what caused the collision in the curve, a section long considered risky by drivers and further complicated this morning by a dense layer of fog.
