NEW ARREST BASED ON SERBIAN WARRANT: Former member of the so-called KLA detained in North Macedonia!

In North Macedonia, former KLA member Fadil Puskoli was arrested based on a Serbian warrant.

Puskoli was arrested tonight at the Blace–Đeneral Janković (Hani i Elezit) border crossing, KOHA reported, citing a post on his Facebook profile.

The post cited by Koha states that he was arrested based on a warrant issued by the Serbian authorities and that the reason was his membership in the KLA. For now, however, there is no publicly available information about the specific criminal offense for which Serbia is seeking him, nor is there an official statement from the competent authorities in North Macedonia, Kossev reports.

“I call on the institutions of Kosovo to immediately take all necessary measures to act in this case and protect my rights,” the post cited by KOHA states.

It is also unknown whether Puskoli has been placed in custody or what the further proceedings before the North Macedonian authorities will be.

The latest arrest comes just 24 hours after two other cases connected to Serbian warrants and proceedings over alleged war crimes were recorded.

Bajram Bajrami was released from custody in Croatia today, where he had been arrested last month based on an international warrant issued by Serbia on suspicion of war crimes against the civilian population. Kosovo’s Ministry of Justice said he was released following the involvement of Kosovo institutions and cooperation with the Croatian authorities.

A day earlier, Osman Seljmani was released from custody in Belgrade. Serbian authorities had arrested him on July 1 at the Mutivode crossing on suspicion that he had participated in the killing of Serbian married couple Vladimir and Persa Stanisavljević in Pristina in June 1999.

It has not been publicly stated which decision led to Seljmani’s release or whether proceedings against him will continue.

Two years ago, former KLA member Blerim Ramadani was also arrested in North Macedonia based on a Serbian warrant. He was later released from custody.
