The trophy-winning coach did not change his decision
Željko Obradović has remained firm in his decision not to withdraw his resignation because he does not see himself working with the current team, as well as due to the impact that daily work at this level has on his health, the club announced.

“The Executive Board of KK Partizan Mozzart Bet held a series of meetings and consultations over the past two days, and then on Friday a meeting with coach Željko Obradović on the topic of his staying in the club, in the position of head coach of the first team. Coach Obradović was given full and unequivocal support to continue working and take all necessary steps for the black-and-white team to overcome its current crisis in play and results.
After the meeting, and after several additional attempts by president Ostoja Mijailović and members of the Executive Board to persuade Obradović to change his decision, the current coach of the black-and-whites remained determined not to withdraw his resignation because he does not see himself working with the current team, as well as due to the impact that daily work at this level has on his health.
The meeting between Željko Obradović and members of the Executive Board of KK Partizan lasted more than two hours, with an open discussion about all problems and possible solutions. Despite a series of constructive proposals that included possible cuts within the team, Željko Obradović, with gratitude to everyone for their words of support, did not change his decision and he will no longer serve as the team’s head coach.
The basketball and symbolic significance of Željko Obradović for Partizan and for basketball on a global level is immeasurable. The void that remains is difficult to fill. The doors of Partizan will always remain open to Željko Obradović and Partizan will always be his home.
Due to the newly arisen situation, a session of the Board of Directors of KK Partizan has been scheduled for the beginning of next week, with the topic of appointing a new sporting director and defining the strategy of the sports sector, after which a press conference will be held.
The date and place of the conference will be communicated to media representatives later.”
Neither the pressure from fans, the management, nor the players has changed Željko Obradović’s decision. Not even the grand welcome at the airport upon returning from Athens two days ago softened the temperamental expert. Even the management’s offer to change the entire team did not convince him to stay.
Now the big question is — what next? Currently, the team is being led in training by Aleksandar Matović, a long-time assistant coach on the black-and-white staff.
