HORROR IN A CHICAGO SCHOOL: Bodies of two maintenance workers found with gunshot wounds to the head, police suspect murder-suicide! (VIDEO)

Two school maintenance workers were found on Monday afternoon with gunshot wounds from firearms inside Mark Twain Elementary School, police and the employees’ union confirmed.

The school principal stated that there were no students in the building at the time of the shooting, but this tragic incident struck fear among parents and raised safety concerns just before the start of the school year.

According to police, the call came in around 3:40 p.m. from Chicago’s Garfield Ridge neighborhood. Inside the school building, a 48-year-old woman and a 63-year-old man were found, both with gunshot wounds to the head. They were transported to the hospital in critical condition, where they soon succumbed to their injuries.

Audio recordings of police radio dispatch reveal dramatic details from the scene: “There is one female person in the hallway,” “The shooter shot himself in the head,” and “There is a firearm next to the suspect.”

Police have not yet officially commented on the motives that led to this tragedy.

The workers’ union confirmed that both victims were employed in school maintenance.

“Two families have lost their loved ones. Our thoughts and prayers are with them, as well as with the staff, students, and other families from Mark Twain Elementary School,” the union said in a statement.

News of the tragedy deeply shook and worried parents, whose children are scheduled to return to school desks in just two weeks. Felicia Puga, whose daughter is entering second grade, did not hide her outrage:

“I am shocked, this is mind-boggling. There are only fourteen days left until school starts. These are people who are in the building with our children. Just imagine if at that moment a new student had come with their parents to the main office to enroll and something like this happened,” the worried mother stated.

A former student of this school, Edgar Ochoa, stresses that no one could have even anticipated such an outcome:

“All of this is extremely sad and unexpected. While I attended this school, there were never any problems here.”

In a letter sent to parents, the school principal said he understood their concern:

“We are aware that this news will deeply disturb our families and staff. Rest assured that we are taking all measures and treating the situation with the utmost seriousness to ensure the safety of the entire school community.”

Immediately following the incident, the school administration alerted the police and the Chicago Public Schools Office of Safety and Security. However, while the investigation continues, great uncertainty prevails among parents.

“How would you feel as a parent? Would you consider your children safe? I certainly wouldn’t,” Puga concludes.
