Ivana Španović surpassed the qualifying standard for the European Championship final and set a season best of 14.21 meters. The final is scheduled for Thursday at 20:40. Aleksandrija Mitrović set a personal best of 13.93 meters, but failed to make it into the top 12.
Just one run down the runway was enough for Ivana Španović to qualify for a new final at a major competition, but this time in the triple jump.
The result of 14.21 meters is six centimeters better than the qualifying standard for direct advancement to the final.
After two gold medals and one silver medal in the long jump at European championships, Španović will try to claim a European medal in the triple jump for the first time.

She achieved her best result this season of 14.41 meters indoors when she also set an indoor national record. In March, she took sixth place at the World Indoor Championships.
Aleksandrija Mitrović failed to reach the final. With a result from the first series of 13.93 meters, she improved her personal best by one centimeter.
In her second run down the runway, her mark in the sand was 60 centimeters shorter.
She failed to execute her third jump technically to the end.
Milica Emini failed to secure a place in the semifinals of the 100-meter hurdles race.
In the second part of the race, Emini made technical errors while stepping over the hurdles, which cost her a better result. She leaves Birmingham with a time of 13.86 seconds.
