The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) points to an increase in the number of cases of improper driving in the lane intended for the movement of vehicles from the opposite direction, which represents one of the most serious traffic violations.
MUP appeals to all drivers to show maximum responsibility and caution in traffic, bearing in mind that such behavior directly endangers the lives of all traffic participants and can lead to the most severe consequences.
“At the same time, we thank the citizens who, through their reports to the competent police unit, as well as posts on social networks, contribute to the discovery and sanctioning of such violations and thereby make a significant contribution to improving traffic safety,” states MUP, reminding that when publishing such content, it is necessary to take care regarding the accuracy of information.
MUP therefore appeals to citizens not to share videos that were created earlier or were not recorded on the territory of the Republic of Serbia, in order to avoid the spread of misinformation and unnecessary public disturbance.
In the last two weeks, members of the Traffic Police Directorate, in cooperation with the Traffic Police Directorate of the Police Administration for the city of Belgrade and the traffic police departments of the police administrations in Valjevo, Novi Sad, and Požarevac, have shed light on five such cases, according to the MUP statement.
It is added that of those, two were recorded on the highway in Novi Sad and Ljig, two on the motor-road in Belgrade and Požarevac, while one case occurred on Vojvoda Mišić Boulevard in Belgrade.
Appropriate misdemeanor charges have been filed against the perpetrators of these violations.
